Annual report 2019

BRUGG Group increased group sales by 7 percent to CHF 633 million in 2019 and significantly increased profit. Order intake rose 4 percent and also reached CHF 633 million. BRUGG ROPES was particularly successful, with sales growth of 13 percent.

Important milestone reached for BRUGG Pipesystems

An important project for BRUGG Rohrsysteme GmbH is DOUBLEFLEX - the development of a flexible, vacuum-insulated, stainless steel corrugated pipe for the refueling of cruise ships with liquid natural gas (LNG). Fatzer performed in Mexico City

The foundation for the longest urban cable car has been laid: the "Cablebús" line in Mexico City will be 34 kilometers long, spread over 4 lines. The first two sections will be equipped with the high-performance haulage rope "PERFORMA-DT" from Fatzer. All in all, stranded ropes with a total length of 19.5km (ø54mm) and 21.6km (ø 52mm) are produced for the transport network.

Brugg Kabel AG: Promising future with Terna

Brugg Kabel AG, one of the 5 divisions of the BRUGG Group to date, has been incorporated into the Italian Terna Group as of 1 March 2020. The traditional Swiss cable manufacturer is well positioned for the future with an innovative product strategy after undergoing a fitness cure last year. The sale of Brugg Kabel AG has no impact on the other divisions of the BRUGG Group, which will remain with the Group.

Italian power utility Terna S.p.A., of Rome, signed an agreement on December 20, 2019, to acquire a majority interest in Brugg Kabel AG of Brugg, Switzerland. BRUGG GROUP AG has thus gained an ideal strategic partner for its cable business.

A logistics masterpiece sets new standards

A length of 6'940 meters and a weight of 132 tons - these are the new record values for the longest and heaviest steel wire rope ever produced for a Swiss cable car. The transport to Grindelwald posed some challenges for FATZER and the logistic company Wipfli.

Results of the Brugg Group 2018

Incoming orders for the BRUGG Group increased by a solid 6%. Pipe Systems far exceeded its performance in the previous year, recording impressive growth of 17 %. Rope Technology grew by 3 % thanks to high numbers of orders at Fatzer and healthy performance in Netting Solutions and Wire Ropes.
