Faster - cleaner - cheaper: With the cable car, a means of transport can be offered in the city that has so far mainly made the mountains more accessable. Planners of the local public transport are increasingly regarding them as the only economically and ecologically sensible alternative to cope with the traffic jams in megacities such as La Paz, Medellin and soon also Mexico City. The haulage rope plays a major role here, as it is exposed to significantly higher loads than conventional ropeways and, in addition to a long service life, must offer other properties such as maximum smoothness. The PERFORMA-DT stranded rope from FATZER was specially developed for this application.
The PERFORMA-DT stranded rope was developed with the goal of eliminating strand-induced vibrations in traction or conveyor operations. Thanks to the smooth surface structure, the rope is practically vibration-free and noiseless. The ropes are therefore particularly useful for systems with high transport capacities - and wherever vibrations and noise affect the comfort and well-being of passengers, residents and passers-by.
To date, a total of over 300 kilometers of PERFORMA ropes of the first and second generation have been sold, and the trend has been increasing rapidly in the past two years.
The customer benefits of PERFORMA ropes are obvious:
- A far more economical total cost of ownership (TCO) than other stranded ropes
- Maximum smoothness and significantly reduced noise emissions compared to conventional stranded ropes (- 3-6 dB on the line, - 10-12 dB in the station)

The new generation of PERFORMA ropes was developed with intensive long-term tests on the rope test cableway from Fatzer. This way, step by step, different rope cores, profile shapes and profile materials have been finetuned with different rope diameters of up to 56mm and travel speeds of up to 11m / s. The obtained parameters resulted in a hoisting cable that is unique on the international market and already has an excellent reputation around the globe, particularly when used for high-performance systems that can be coupled, thanks to its reliability and above-average service life (number of bending cycles).
During the long-term tests, our TRUsplice® was further improved and consistently tailored to the requirements for a continuous use as well. The unique splicing technology produces a tailor-made knot core, the shape of which is individually adapted to the rope diameter. This reduces strand friction to a minimum and significantly increases the service life of the rope. Of course, for rail operators, the technology has numerous advantages:

Thanks to the «FARO tune» livecycle software, which makes the necessary rope maintenance work and intervals predictable when planning a system, downtimes can be planned and minimized, and life cycle costs can be predicted very precisely.
